Boston Property Management: Taking Care of Laundry Room
The Laundry room is a place where you need to wash and clean your clothes. It is also a place which ends up getting dirty and disorganized if you don’t take care of it.
These are some guidelines which will help save you from danger and make sure that your laundry room is operating at a peak performance.
Get rid of all the excess items in your laundry area and make it clutter free. There will be plenty of items you will find which you do not need. Just fill them up in a bag and throw them away.
Move on towards your cleaning supplies and throw the ones which are empty. Just ensure that you dispose of them safely so that they are not a hazard. Also make sure you cull the expired material as it can have consequences. It helps to ensure that there are no reactive chemicals in an unsafe place. Do check to see if there are any flammable liquids. Keep them far away from any gas fired appliances.
Boston Property Management: Check up and clear out
Washers and dryers do need maintenance from time to time. Not only does this result in a boost in their performance but they also have a longer lifespan. A laundry room is also a place where house fires end up starting.
So inspect your washing machine hoses, to see if they are worn out. Replace the rubber ones with a durable metal hose, as they last longer.
Clean the dryer’s lint trap so that it works properly. If you leave it unattended, it can get clogged up. Also add a strainer to the drain hose so that it does not get congested. Check the rubber between the laundry doors for wear and tear. An important to remember is that the lint trap needs to be cleaned after each use. Just use a damp cloth or fabric softener sheets.
The exhaust can be cleaned once you unplug the washer. Disconnect the hose and then vacuum the buildup. If you want a more professional job, use a dryer vent kit. A metal exhaust hose is a better option and can help prevent fires. So if your exhaust hose is made out of rubber, replace it with metal.
Wash the washer
Wash the interior of the washing machine every week. Only do it when the drum is dry, and then vacuum using the brush attachment. This will allow you to get rid of the debris and other material which gets caught inside. Then wipe down the walls so that you can get rid of the foul odor. Use some white vinegar to help you get rid of it.
