It can be quite a task moving to another state .  A move requires a lot of hard work and many facts need to be taken into consideration before you make the move. People tend not to take certain facts into account before making the move. It’s  not just the equipment you need to move but also the changes you need to make in your life.

Transportation

If you plan on moving with your vehicle to your new state, it is essential for you to visit the DMV. You will have to register your car in the new state and get new license plates. However there is a vehicle inspection before the DMV can deem it road worthy. This is followed by informing the insurance company of the change of address as well as finding out if there are any rate changes. Do remember that there are some areas which tend to be more expensive than others so the policy could get more expensive.

Address Change

Before you make the move, go to your post office and fill out a change of address form.  Make sure you handle it way ahead of time and not at the last minute.  The mail forwarding should begin from the day you are supposed to start living in your new place. You also have to register to vote in your new state. Sometimes people forget to do that and they are unable to vote. It is easy to register as all government offices allow registration.

Medical

It is a good idea to check Google Maps for hospitals, ERs and urgent care facilities near your new place. You should also call your health insurance providers to inform them about your move. It is a good move as they will be able to give you a list of the doctors in your area who they work with.

If you need to visit a doctor for something pre-existing, set an appointment once you are settled. You don’t have to worry about the medical records as your old doctor’s office will transfer them.

There is one thing people forget and it’s that certain licenses or certifications may not be easy to transfer to other states. Do your homework and see what you need to transfer them.

Kids and community

Once you find a school, call them up to see if you need to fill our any paperwork and what sort of records they need to enroll your child.  There might be the need to send over your child’s vaccination records.

Cultural adjustment

Moving across to a different side of the country can take a lot of using to. This is why it can also lead to a culture shock. So if you are moving from Boston to Dallas, it may take some time to get used to it. You will have to take some time to get used to the new cultural adjustment.
