If you have decided that this is the year you want to put your house on the market, then don’t despair. It is not an easy task selling your home, but it is not an impossible task. If you take the time out and plan everything, you can put your home on the market.

Cleaning

Start off with cleaning up your place and getting rid of items you don’t need. Make a list of items you want to donate to charity, items you need to throw away or recycle or items you just need to give away to friends and family. This way the mess will be much easier to clean.

Then start deep cleaning the home as it needs to look as clean as possible. Don’t leave any corner or spot alone as you need to make sure there is no speck of dust. Clean everything from top to bottom and make sure that your windows look clean.

Then go off and clean all your closets, cabinets and drawers. You need to ensure that they are clean and organized. Buyers will always go through them because they will be thinking of storage space. If the storage space is clean, then it will have a good impression on the buyer.

You can make several DIY repairs or fixes before you open your home to others. Painting the walls, fixing faucets/toilets, replacing burned-out bulbs, repairing walls, fixing windows. Not only will you save but you can do it per your own satisfaction.

Once you are done with the inside of the house, you must focus your energy on the curb appeal of the place. So, start working on it by trimming all bushes and shrubs. Don’t forget to trim the trees so the home looks more appealing. Work on the roof and the gutters to see if there is any gunk there. Don’t let anything be crawling on it. Work on your backyard and replace the soil or at least add mulch if it can make it look better. Remove all stains from the driveway and work on any weeds which may be coming up through the cracks. Once you take out the weeds from the cracks, start working on filling them in. Once you work on your driveway and walkway, then you will be able to make it look good for the potential buyers.
