Open houses can be quite a task for a Property Manager MA. It is more challenging for a buyer who is in the market for a home.  There is a lot one can learn while attending an open house. This guide takes a look at some of the critical areas of an Open House which allow you to determine whether you want to take the home or not.


The neighborhood

This is the most important aspect of buying a new home. One needs to check the neighborhood before one decides on making an offer.  It’s important to see how the neighborhood is like in terms of security, condition of the surrounding house, the traffic speed in the area as well as the availability of amenities in the area.

The neighbors

Neighbors are often the deal breaker when it comes to making a decision. Try and find out what the neighbors are like because you will have to live next to them if you decide to get the property.  Go around and introduce yourself to the prospective neighbors so you can get a feel of the neighborhood.


Privacy is an important factor to consider while finding a new place. So look around and evaluate the privacy situation while scoping out the prospective place.  It does not help if the neighbor’s bathroom window faces your bedroom window.

The home’s exterior

Sometimes people do not examine the exterior before making a decision. Go around and examine it with a fine tooth comb so that you can see if there are any flaws. The best thing to do would be to check it out during day time. If there are any flaws outside, there could also be flaws inside.  If the place has been handled by a good property manager in MA then it’s a sure shot sign that this place is suitable for you.

Floor Plan

Floor plans of the home are usually available online but they don’t give you an idea of the flow. Take a look at the place and see if it has the right flow and it suits your needs. If you think it’s open and inviting then you can definitely go for it.


Check the place thoroughly and see if you can smell something. Look for signs of stains on the wall or the ceiling as this could mean drainage problems or roof trouble. This can often lead to mold and mildew problems. If you ever see either you know that the place is not for you.

Light and air

A place with plenty of natural light and good air flow is a good catch. Not only does this make everything good, but it also helps to cut down on utility bills during the summer.
